Safety/Training
All of Flyte Tyme’s chauffeurs are trained in defensive driving and etiquette through the world-renowned Smith
System. For added safety, Flyte Tyme conducts random drug tests and driving record/criminal background checks
on all chauffeurs through a nationally recognized program called AVERT.
Driver Training and Security
As of April 1, 2001, Flyte Tyme became one of the largest transportation companies in the world to have a 100%
Smith certified driving staff. Though safety and customer service training continues, this milestone represents
the fulfillment of a promise to provide the ultimate in safe and dependable transportation with unequalled
expertise and professionalism.
The head of Flyte Tyme’s Chauffeur Training Department, Walter Schlett, is a certified Smith System instructor.
As part of his job, Walter has certified the entire chauffeur corps.
Training and re-training continues throughout a chauffeur’s career with Flyte Tyme. Spot checks and ghost
rides are conducted periodically, and feedback from customers via evaluation cards, phone calls and letters
is examined carefully.
The week-long training program addresses the following areas:
- Driving Technique
- Driver Requirements
- Vehicle Maintenance
- Account Locations
- Airport Arrivals
- Map Reading and Local Geography
Professional in Appearance & Attitude
All Flyte Tyme drivers wear a standard uniform designed to mirror their professional approach to their
duties. The uniform consists of a dark suit, white shirt and tie, and an easily recognizable ID badge.
Each driver carries a digital alphanumeric pager for last minute updates to trip details.
Flyte Tyme recruits experienced drivers and works hard to retain its elite staff. As a result, more
than half of the driving staff has been with the company for over five years.
Safer Vehicles
Part of keeping the vehicles safe at Flyte Tyme is a comprehensive preventative maintenance
regimen, which includes daily inspections by chauffeurs and maintenance crew.
For Added Peace of Mind…
Flyte Tyme maintains $21.5 million in liability insurance coverage, over ten times what is legally
required and one of the largest policies in the industry, internationally. Because of the company’s
exceptional safety record, it gets this coverage for what many operators pay for $1.5 million.
